Dr. Carolyn Bernaski, LCSW, DSW

Carolyn Bernaski, LCSW, DSW, works with adolescents (12+), adults, and couples navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, grief, chronic pain, and significant life transitions. She especially enjoys supporting people who are rebuilding, strengthening their self-worth, or moving through seasons of meaningful change. Carolyn also provides LGBTQ+ affirming care.
With a background in community mental health, Carolyn brings experience working with a wide range of concerns, including complex mood disorders and significant life stressors. Her experience has shaped a whole-person perspective that recognizes the connection between emotional health, physical well-being, relationships, and life circumstances.
Carolyn is known for an authentic, relaxed, and collaborative style. She believes clients are the experts on their own lives and approaches therapy as a partnership. Clients can expect warmth and validation alongside thoughtful challenge, practical tools, and encouragement to create meaningful change.
Her approach emphasizes the mind-body connection and draws primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, strengths-based approaches, and grief-informed care. She has completed extensive CBT training and is currently pursuing certification through the Beck Institute.
At the heart of Carolyn’s work is a strong belief that people can change. She helps clients strengthen their sense of personal agency and move toward greater joy, satisfaction, and confidence—not simply fewer symptoms.
Outside of counseling, Carolyn is an animal lover who enjoys spending time at the barn with her horse, Lane.
