GET TO KNOW YOUR THERAPIST
Jill First, LPC
Hello! My name is Jill First. I am a Licensed Professional Therapist. I have a Master degree in Counseling, Master degree in Public Administration, and a Bachelors in Education. I taught
Special Education for 10 years and 20 years as a social worker with Children and Families. I deployed two times with FEMA doing Crisis management after the hurricanes and went back to
school to become a therapist. I worked with active-duty military PTSD, Depression, substance abuse and traumatic brain injury. I went back into the school system and helped children deal with grief, isolation and depression and social issues during and after Covid. I work with children, teens, adults, families and seniors with depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, and various areas where people struggle in life.
From the moment we work toward your HEALING so you will be able to handle joy and to accept happiness back into your life. You will be in control of your own healing. I will be with you every step of the way as we process and move toward a happier full life.
Three words that describe me:
Empathetic- I believe everyone has value and I will listen and be part of this journey with you.
Safe- The environment we work together in is one of safety. You will not be alone, and we will work through the issues in a safe loving and caring environment.
Individualized- I believe no two people are exactly alike and all will heal, learn and move forward at their own pace and time . I am here for that process. When I am not working: II am caring for my mother and enjoying dinner with friends. I also rescue dogs and currently have a 7-year-old German Sheperd named Lucy. My life is full.
Favorite Quotes: “Taking care of your mental health is not a luxury it is a necessity, the courage to change starts with the willingness to admit you need to”.
