John Oncken LCSW

Dr. Oncken, LCSW, PhD, works with children, teens, adults, and couples navigating both everyday stress and more complex mental health challenges. With nearly 30 years of experience, including extensive work with veterans and individuals in higher-acuity settings, Dr. Oncken brings steadiness, perspective, and depth to the therapy room.

He is known for being honest, practical, and down-to-earth, while still creating a space that feels supportive and approachable. Many clients appreciate his straightforward style and clear guidance. John believes therapy should not only provide insight, but also equip clients with practical tools that lead to meaningful, lasting change.

He has particular experience supporting teens and adults facing anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, trauma, addiction and substance use concerns, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and more complex or severe mental health symptoms. For couples, he offers structured support that strengthens communication and builds healthier patterns. For individuals struggling with addiction or higher levels of distress, he provides grounded, collaborative care focused on stability, accountability, and steady progress.
