Misty Thompson LPC Associate

My name is Misty Thompson, LPC-Associate, supervised by Dr. Seth Sampson Ph.D., LPC-S, NCC, CSC. I work with children, teens, adults and couples with trauma/PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions (e.g. empty nest, career change, relationship status etc.), stress and burnout, interracial couples, and general wellbeing.

Working with me is a collaborative and supportive experience. I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly. My approach is empathetic and client-centered, ensuring that your unique needs and goals are at the forefront of our work together.

During our sessions, I utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques tailored to your specific needs. Whether it’s cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness practices, or solution-focused strategies, my goal is to empower you with the tools and insights needed to navigate life’s challenges and achieve personal growth.

Three words that describe me:

Empathetic: I strive to understand and validate your feelings and experiences. Empathy is crucial in the counseling process as it helps build trust and creates a safe space for you to express yourself without judgment.

Adaptable: I tailor my approach to meet your unique needs and preferences. Adaptability ensures that the counseling process is flexible and responsive, allowing us to explore different strategies and techniques that work best for you.

Supportive: I provide consistent encouragement and guidance throughout your journey. Being supportive means offering a steady presence and helping you navigate challenges, which is essential for fostering growth and resilience in the counseling process.

I am a native to San Antonio. I was influenced by my own experiences in therapy to start the journey as a therapist. Having graduated with a Master of Education degree in School Counseling from Our Lady of the Lake University in 2011.  I have worked with at-risk youths and adults in a variety of settings for the past 11 years, exposing me to a multitude of therapeutic mental health issues and diagnoses. My passion is to help people. I believe in the power of sharing life experiences, and helping clients navigate through the complexity of life.
