Misty Thompson, LPC, works with teens, adults, couples, and families navigating trauma, attachment wounds, relationship stress, anxiety, grief, and the lasting impact of growing up in chaotic or emotionally inconsistent environments. She has a particular passion for supporting individuals who have felt misunderstood by systems in their lives and for helping clients break patterns rooted in intergenerational trauma.
Misty’s approach is grounded in trauma-informed care and attachment theory, incorporating evidence-based modalities such as the Gottman Method, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She is both gentle and direct — able to hold space for deep emotions while also offering clear, practical guidance. Clients often describe her as steady, attuned, and collaborative, with a calm presence that makes it easier to be honest and vulnerable.
When working with children and teens, Misty intentionally includes the family system, recognizing that healing rarely happens in isolation. She helps families strengthen communication, increase understanding, and create healthier relational patterns. At the same time, she challenges clients to actively engage in their growth, believing that meaningful change requires both insight and effort.
Misty is passionate about helping clients move from self-criticism to self-compassion and from survival mode to a life that feels more grounded and connected. She brings warmth, authenticity, and a genuine investment in each client’s progress.
